Clacton Pier AGC is set to double in size and be rebranded as the Pier Casino following extensive investment in redevelopment of the venue.
The gaming floor will receive more than 50 new machines, featuring the latest in amusement technology, as part of an enhancement programme which began in 2018.
“Huge improvements have taken place at the Pier over the past 12 months in terms of what we are offering our customers,” said director Elliot Ball.
“We have upped our game with Discovery Bay soft play, Skull Point adventure golf, Dockside Dodgems and the new food and drink outlets.”
“Now it’s the turn of the adult gaming area and we are going for the most up-to-date technology available on the market. It will be bigger and better than before and help attract new customers.”
The AGC’s expansion represents the second phase of development, which will include major work on the attraction’s main entrance and con- course, as well as new concrete base to weatherproof the front section of the pier.
“We ask everyone to bear with us and appreciate our contractors and suppliers working with us to help us achieve what we are trying to do at our landmark attraction.”
The investment comes as Clacton Pier reported the first half term of 2019 saw footfall up on the previous year, with warm weather drawing customers to the arcade, rides, golf and soft play.
“We are managing to start our main season even earlier and it all helps in our goal to create a truly 52-week-a-year venue,” added Ball.
