Barry’s Amusements has marked the end of the Christmas season with a charitable donation to Belfast Zoo.
The Portrush arcade, located on the northern- most tip of Ireland, recycled its Christmas tree by taking it to the Cavehill zoological gardens to be enjoyed by the site’s residents.
“It was time to take our lovely Christmas tree down but instead of just throwing it away we were able to donate it to the elephants and other animals,” said a statement from the company on Facebook.
“The elephants love these trees to graze on and it also gives them added shelter and bedding.”
The donation marks the end of the arcade’s online Christmas promotions, which included a 12 Days of Christmas giveaway, awarding winners up to £40 of Barry’s Amusements vouchers.
Barry’s also held a charitable raffle to celebrate
the Portrush Christmas lights on 30 November, matching the £350 raised to donate £700 to the Children’s Cancer Fund.
