Cromer Pier and the resort’s Leisure Land amusement arcade have taken starring roles in BBC One’s Christmas film for 2018.
Entitled Wonderland, the two-minute film illustrates the joy of spending time together, with large portions of it filmed inside Leisure Land and on the pier.
It was premiered on the channel after last Saturday’s episode of Strictly Come Dancing, is available on BBC iPlayer and the BBC’s social media channels and will run in key junctions between programmes throughout the
BBC creative Edward Usher told the Eastern Daily Press: “We were looking at seaside photos and saw Cromer with its pier and knew that was the place to film it.
“It’s a quintessential British scene and it’s timeless. It felt beautiful and magical. A lot of people have happy memories of growing up at the seaside.”
Fellow BBC creative Xander Hart added: “Seaside towns are really under-represented on film. We hope that other BBC shows will take a lead from us, and film more shows in the area. It’s an amazing place.”
