The hottest London Marathon in the event’s 37 year history took place on Sunday. But that did not stop Tony Glanville, managing director of RLMS Sales, and his wife Sarah raising £8,500 for Rays of sunshine, a charity that grants wishes for children in the UK suffering from serious and life limiting illnesses.
Since 2013, the couple have run and cycled in the region of 10,000 miles each whilst training for and completing sponsored events for Rays, a commitment which has now seen them raise £40,000
Glanville said: “Sarah completed the run in a staggering 3.50.02 and I dragged my old bones across the line in 4.10.34. In total there were over 40,000 runners that completed the Marathon on Sunday.
Glanville thanked everyone for the support explaining the task would have been a lot harder without the “tremendous support” we received from family, friends and colleagues.
“We are very grateful for the kind words of encouragement we received,” said Granville. “The most important aspect of Marathon day is the tremendous amount of money that is raised for great causes. Through your generosity we have managed to raise over £8,500 for the tremendous charity Rays of Sunshine that will allow them to keep granting wishes for children in the UK suffering from serious and life limiting illnesses.”
“On behalf of Team G, Rays of Sunshine and most importantly the children, we thank you for taking part in our Marathon journey and for your support,” said Glanville, adding: “Together we have made a difference!”
