BANDAI NAMCO has partnered with Hollywood Bowl to launch VR Zone Portal in the O2 Arena, the first virtual reality gaming suite outside of Japan.

Located inside the bowling alley venue at the O2, two games are initially available to guests: Argyle Shift, a single-player futuristic giant robot sim, and Hospital Escape Terror, a multiplayer VR horror escape game.

“The VR Zone Portal at the O2 is a launchpad for bringing the fascinating world of virtual reality gaming to people on a larger and more accessible scale,” said Steve Burns, CEO of Hollywood Bowl Group.

“We’re really excited to be at the forefront of this technology in the UK and can’t wait to open this exclusive experience to the public.”

The titles are English translated versions of original Japanese releases, running on a HTC Vive headset.

“Crowds were forming around the attractions before they were even fully open,” says Matt Bradley, VR
Project Manager, BANDAI NAMCO Amusement Europe Ltd.

“Since it opened at the latter end of the school holidays, it has performed incredibly well and the takings have been impressive.”
