As part of a £100m regeneration project stretching across Sunderland, developer Siglion are planning over 90,000 sq ft of modern leisure, retail and accommodation facilities for coastal resort Seaburn.
Over 200 full-time jobs will be created as a result. A funfair and hotel have been greenlit by the city council, along with almost 300 homes.
Additionally, the masterplan includes a wide central boulevard leading down to the seafront, with a pedestrianised area for shops, restaurants and entertainment.
The proposals also feature an array of play spots, with green space on the edge of the area likely to be transformed into an open-air managed playpark.
A large indoor leisure unit over two stories will also be included. The development is currently being marketed to attract top-quality retail and leisure operators to the city.
