Milton Keynes might not have the glamour of Monaco and James Shipley certainly isn’t a Lewis Hamilton or a Sebastian Vettel, but Praesepe’s annual industry Go Karting day held at the Daytona Raceway, saw the Shipley Leisure team, captained by James, secure top spot on the winner’s podium.
A total of 15 teams, representing all sectors of the industry, battled it out, with no one able to eclipse the team from Shipley’s, aptly named ‘Catch Me If You Can!’
Whilst ‘Catch Me If You Can!’ took the winners flag, the real winner was Praesepe’s long time charity partner, CHIPS, which received a cheque for £5,000.
The sum, which was generated through sponsorship and fundraising during the day, will go towards the purchase of a bespoke powered wheelchair for children with severe mobility issues.
Since Praesepe began working with CHIPS, 12 years ago, it has raised a massive £650,000 and presented 120 custom built wheelchairs to children up and down the country.
Simon Coombes, marketing manager for Cashino and Beacon Bingo, said: “This annual fundraiser was another great success and the £5,000 raised is a tribute to the fantastic generosity of our suppliers and partners.”
James Shipley added: “It was a delight to participate in such a rewarding cause. It is fantastic to know how much happiness this will bring to children with severe mobility problems.”
