Sound Leisure has recently completed an unusual jukebox installation at London’s St Pancras International station.

The Leeds-based classic jukebox manufacturer has supplied a digital Rocket Jukebox with Milestones in Music technology, which has been placed under the South Eastern Trains platforms.

The digital Rocket jukebox combines the latest technology with the stunning retro good looks and it has caused quite a stir since it was placed on site

Whilst waiting for a train, visitors will be able to select from 30,000 freeto- play songs, from 18,162 artists including 1,255 number ones.

The installation follows the success of the station’s iconic free-to-use pianos, which have hosted a number of performances from big names including Elton John and John Legend.

Chris Black, managing director of Sound Leisure, commented: “The digital Rocket jukebox combines the latest technology with the stunning retro good looks and it has caused quite a stir since it was placed on site.

“With the growing interest in all things retro, Sound Leisure’s Classic range, which is available in digital, CD and even vinyl formats offers a focal point on any site, and as the reaction from customers, press and social media has proven at St Pancras International – sometimes it’s not just about what is in the cash box, it is also about the feelgood factor,” he added.

“St Pancras has played host to some of the world’s biggest music stars of late and it’s continuing to bring together music and the community from today, with the launch of a permanent jukebox boasting every top 40 hit from the past 50 years,” said a spokesman from the station.

As it stands The Beatles claim the most Top 40 tracks on the jukebox, with 280, and to mark the launch of the new permanent fixture, visitors will this week be greeted with a colourful, Beatles-inspired installation.
