David Pemberton has been announced as the new chief operating officer of the Gambling Commission, a role which will involve overseeing the regulator’s corporate services including HR, finance, IT, planning and risk.

Pemberton was previously the executive director at Business in the Community and will begin his role at the Gambling Commission at the end of June.

“I’m delighted to welcome David to the Commission’s executive team. He brings a wealth of expertise in leading change and developing corporate functions that are high performing and that deliver value for money,” said chief executive Sarah Harrison.

“This work is key to ensuring we have an organisation that is both effective and efficient as we deliver on our objectives to keep gambling fair, safe and free from crime,” she added.

Pemberton previously ran Business in the Community’s regional operations in the East Midlands and Yorkshire & Humber and has also worked for Credit Suisse, PwC, Nissan, and Ford.
