A deal has been struck to renovate a car park near Dreamland in Margate as the amusement park looks to secure more parking infrastructure for the busy season ahead.
The additional 400 spaces to be provided will ease some of the attraction’s existing parking problems – an important step for Dreamland’s long term growth strategy, as well as a bonus for visitors when the park opens on May 26.
“As well as being adjacent to Dreamland, the new car park is close to many of the other fantastic things Margate has to offer, so it will be ideal for anyone visiting the town by car,” explained Steven Mitchell, CEO at Dreamland. “The increasing number of visitors to the town in recent years is extremely positive for local people and businesses, but we are aware that the limited public parking has been a problem, especially during the summer. The agreement we have reached will enable us to significantly improve the situation.”
With £25m invested in the park over the last few months Dreamland’s revitalisation is well under way, and Mitchell is looking forward to a great start to the season.
“Our opening weekend celebrations are a sign of things to come. We have curated a new age of seaside culture and are presenting something truly unique in Britain today, all while embracing our rich history,” he said. “We’re incredibly excited to relaunch the park and are sure it will have a lasting effect on local people and businesses. There’s a great future ahead.”
