The Liverpool Echo that the seaside paradise of New Brighton in Wirral almost saw the creation of a £150m fake Caribbean beach.


Developers, who seemingly preferred a coastal climate closer to the Gulf of Mexico than that of Merseyside had proposed the Ocean Dome as the ideal scheme to breathe new life into the faded seaside resort.

The promises were endless, it would create up to 200 jobs and draw in more than a million visitors a year, and the attraction would have included a beach complete with wave machine, climate control and a retractable roof.

However, it was not meant to be, and the tourist destination has seen an upturn without it, recently announcing a brand new ferris wheel at the attraction, which will at least save revellers money on suncream.
