A new ferris wheel has been installed providing a significant boost to the visitor attractions in the New Brighton Village seaside resort.

Sited in a prime spot, in front of the Floral Pavilion and by Fort Perch Rock, the ferris wheel opened across the Easter weekend and offers views of the Wirral skyline.

The ferris wheel, which was originally based on the Edinburgh waterfront, will be open seven days a week and could potentially remain at the New Brighton site until October.

It forms part of the first phase of what organisers hope will be a summer-long attraction of entertainment along the New Brighton waterfront.

The attraction has support from Wirral Council, New Brighton Coastal Community Team and M&D Events.

The village will now be able to move on to adding two rides, artisan outlets, an urban beach and a weekend live music stage.

The resort’s offering will also feature a Sky Swing, a beach bar/restaurant and a family activity centre.

“I am confident that The Village will compliment the already high standard of offers in New Brighton. We will work closely with existing partners and stakeholders to bring a brand new experience to the town which will benefit everyone,” said managing director Martin O’Shea.

He added: “For us, The New Brighton Village is all about celebrating the best of New Brighton, the community and its history as an iconic summer family destination.”
