Bacta’s leadership cycle enters a new term with Gabi Stergides stepping up to the role of National President. The change of guard serves to underline long held values of the association: that family run businesses are vital to the British economy, and young entrepreneurs are crucial to the development and sustainability of the industry. Stergides ticks both those boxes – and more.
Bacta has a new leadership team in place following the inauguration of the association’s new National President, Gabi Stergides and his Vice President James Miller.
They take over from Jason Frost, who steps down after completing what is widely regarded as a highly successful two year term in office.
Looking ahead to his tenure, Gabi Stergides said: “Through my family’s long time involvement in the business I have grown up with a strong appreciation of the importance of bacta and the contribution it makes to helping sustain a healthy and functioning industry. Jason is an incredibly hard act to follow, and I look forward to working with Chief Executive, John White and my Vice President James Miller, to ensure that bacta membership is an attractive and relevant proposition which continues to represent its members to external stakeholders with both passion and professionalism.”
He added: “Bacta provides access to Members of Parliament beyond the individual’s constituency MP and the association has succeeded in taking the key arguments to government in a way that individual companies cannot. Our principal focus will be the outcome of the Triennial and the implications it has for the operation of socially responsible gaming on the high street as practised by bacta members the length and breadth of the country.”
Reflecting on his time in office, Jason Frost, said: “It has been a great honour to be elected by my peers to represent the industry that I know and love. With the help of some extremely gifted and dedicated colleagues we have expanded and beefed up our political influence. I have attended all of the party conferences as President and met with many MPs, Ministers and civil servants. We have visited the Treasury many times and attended meetings at No.10 taking Bacta members issues to the heart of government – these achievements have been reflected in bacta’s membership which has reached a nine year high.
“Gabi will bring a new perspective to the job and in John White we have an experienced CEO who knows the business. I am certain that they will make an effective and professional pairing that will continue to represent the industry and its commitment to social responsibility. Whilst my period of office has drawn to a close I will be on hand at all times to provide any help or serve as a sounding board if required.”
