Operators nationwide are gearing up for what promises to be a bumper season, and those at Drayton Manor are no exception.
The Staffordshire theme park is making final preparations for the summer, aided by the opening of a brand new attraction.
The park is to open for the easter holidays on 30 March, with the new ride, James and the Red Balloon, following swiftly in April.
An affirmation of the expansion programme at the park, the new ride is based on popular children’s characters of the Thomas the tank engine series.
William Bryan, managing director at Drayton Manor Park, said: “We’re all really looking forward to welcoming our visitors for the new season and unveiling this fantastic addition to Thomas Land.
“As a family, we’re committed to ensuring each season is bigger and better than ever before and we hope James and the Red Balloon will thrill both the young and the young at heart.
“Our staff have been working so hard to ensure the season starts successfully and we can’t wait to open our gates to welcome new and existing visitors.”
The £250,000 ride, made by Italian manufacturer Zamperla, is part of the successful multi-million pound Thomas Land, launched in 2008 and recently having undergone a £2.5m expansion.
Drayton Manor seems well positioned to reap the rewards of the booming UK staycation market, with consistent branding extending from rides to themed family rooms within the on-site 150-room hotel complex, as well as more adult-orientated attractions and accommodation.
