Star employee at Praesepe honoured for taking the plunge for charity with a Christmas morning swim to raise funds for CHIPS.

Raymond Harris venue manager at The Fabulous Showboat in Hunstanton, has been presented with Praesepe’s Employee of the Month award, after he went to extraordinary ‘lengths’ to raise money for the CHIPS charity.  Whilst most people were unwrapping their Christmas presents Raymond lived up to his pledge to take a Yuletide dip in the icy depths of the North Sea raising a wonderful £550 in the process.

“Raymond’s bravery is a real asset to the company and he sets the example, always exceeding expectations.”

Operations manager Steve Ambrose, who made the nomination, said: “Raymond, who has worked within the company for 32 years, thoroughly deserves this award. We encourage all our employees to contribute to charity, but only a few would have the bravery to go for a swim in the sea during winter – especially on Christmas morning!”

“He is an excellent manager and, more importantly, a fantastic person who is an example to all of his colleagues.”

Raymond was joined by colleagues at February’s surprise ceremony, where Praesepe Group’s CEO, Nick Harding, presented him with £250 of high street vouchers, a special Employee of the Month badge and certificate to mark his award.

Nick Harding commented: “Raymond’s bravery is a real asset to the company and he sets the example, always exceeding expectations. It is thanks to the herculean efforts of team members such as Raymond, that we have been able to raise what is now over £650,000, a remarkable sum which has enabled CHIPS to purchase in the region of 130 powered wheelchairs for young people the length and breadth of the country.”
