The Bingo Association has elected Rank’s Alan Morgan as its new chairman.
Alan Morgan has been appointed new chairman of The Bingo Association following an Executive Council meeting before Christmas.
Morgan joined Rank Group in September 2016 as managing director of Mecca Bingo and has been involved with the Association ever since. Prior to this he was chief operating and commercial officer at Spirit Pub Company and had previously held senior roles within Whitbread, David Lloyd Leisure and Compass.
He said of the appointment: “I am delighted to become chairman of The Bingo Association. I am very passionate about the leisure industry in general and particularly excited about the role bingo plays in both bringing people together in local communities and offering fantastic all round social experiences.”
He added: “The Bingo Association does a great job in pulling together so many bingo operators to work together for the good of the overall industry and our customers.”
Miles Baron, the BA’s chief executive, was keen to praise the arrival of Morgan noting that: “Alan is a highly experienced and driven, leisure and hospitality executive who is determined to play an energetic and proactive role in the development of the bingo industry.”
The Bingo Association counts 88 proprietors as members ranging from large operators, including Gala and Mecca, to smaller operators and many single unit businesses. The bingo sector drew in more than 3m customers made more than 39m visits to bingo clubs last year.
