The Department for the Economy handed a five year boardroom ban to Irish bingo hall boss, Romeo Morelli, after his conduct as director of Bingo Vision Limited.

Morelli ran a number of bingo halls from Castle Street in Ballymoney, Fairhill Street in Ballycastle and Wakehurst Industrial Estate outside Ballymena.

Bingo Vision went into liquidation in March 2014 and Morelli admitted he caused the company to retain £324,650 owed in various taxes including PAYE, VAT and national insurance.

Morelli also admitted that he caused Bingo Vision Limited to fail an annual return for separate trading period, he failed to file annual accounts for the periods which ended on April 2012 and April 2013, and failed to file annual accounts for the 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2009 tax years.

Morelli is the latest director to sign an undertaking, after the department previously accepted a six year undertaking from another Bingo Vision director.
