Dreamland Margate has been featured on a shortlist of nominees for the Design Museum’s Designs of the Year that includes the late David Bowie’s final album cover.

The seaside amusement park, which re-opened last year following an 11-year campaign to revive it and an £18m restoration, has been nominated for an award in the architecture category.

It joins a dazzling array of international buildings and housing developments on the list, including the Tate Modern’s Switch House in London, the VIA 57 West skyscraper in New York City and the Harbin Opera House in China.

Now in its ninth year, the annual awards celebrate design that promotes or delivers change, enables access, extends design practice or captures the spirit of the year.

An exhibition showcasing all of the nominees is scheduled to run from November 24 to February 19, 2017 at the Design Museum in London.

A winner from each category and one overall winner will be announced on January 26, 2017.
